Our Brand Story: From idea to reality
The inspiration for Prism Fashion was born in that year, when our founder, as a former environmental scientist turned fashion fanatic, put her vision into action. Having grown up in the coastal town of California, Kim saw first-hand the effects fast fashion has on our oceans and communities. Disappointed by the fashion industry’s waste and unsustainability, she set out to create a brand that would counterbalance high-fashion trends with eco-friendly values. Leveraging her background in sustainable design, Kim introduced Prism Fashion with a small line of versatile styles — primarily with summer essentials that evoke the spirit of the cool, sun-kissed days of summer.
We started small—working on our prototypes in a co-working space and finding suppliers who shared our values. But what began as a small local pop-up in Los Angeles took off. And word traveled through social media and word-of-mouth, as customers swooned for our inventive designs, like the breathable organic cotton blue crop top that quickly became our best-seller. And in the years that have followed, we’ve extended our range to offer the full Prism fashion summer collection, from fun and flirty off-shoulder crop tops to sexy, sophisticated black mini dresses, all inspired by international catwalks, world cultures and by real women who rock our clothes.
Today, Prism Fashion is a successful online retailer accessible to the world, releasing over 200 new arrivals per week, available in sizes XS through XXL. We are also supported by a community who we believe feel we are authentic and very transparent. Including initiating fair-trade factories in Europe and Asia to provide the utmost attention to detail, and stay true to our fair and ethical production roots. This journey has not been without its obstacles, but it’s reaffirmed our belief in the importance of evolving with the times (and more crucially) that we will continue to put innovative and planet-friendly practices, like recycled fabrics and water-saving dyes, at the forefront of our journey. We can’t wait to tell this story, and as we look ahead to 2025 we’re even more excited to write the rest of it, bringing women everywhere more inclusive, sustainable choices.
